I’ve been a bad, bad girl!
But at least I’m admitting it.
The winter and spring ushered in a lot of big changes for me. As
of March of 2008, I have stopped working at my SDJ (stupid day job!)
and decided to dedicate myself to writing full time, which is fabulous
news! But before putting my plan into practice, I had to handle a few
things. Like finding a new place to live, which happened to be at the
total opposite end of the country. So I searched and searched, then
packed and packed, then moved and moved, then unpacked and unpacked
until I finally got settled in to a new home in the Pacific Northwest.
Which, by the way, is the coolest place to live!
But I do want you to know, I haven’t forgotten about my readers!
You may have noticed that St Martin’s Press recently released
the fifth Novel of the Others, Walk on the Wild Side.
It was a slight departure from the rest of the stories in the series
(it took place 2500 miles away!), but I hope you enjoyed reading Max
and Kitty’s story.
I have also been hard at work on more books to (hopefully) make you
smile. In October of this year, you can look forward to the release
of One Bite with a Stranger. This is a very special book to
me, because it happens to be a new and improved version of the very
first novel I ever wrote. Originally published in e-book form by Ellora’s
Cave under the title Fantasy Fix, Reggie and Misha’s
story is the one that convinced me I could really be a writer one day.
It also introduced the world of the Others, so I hope you’ll
get a kick out of seeing where it all began. I’ve beefed up the
story and added a bunch of new elements, so even if you read the original
e-book, I hope you’ll give Reggie and Misha another chance. They’ll
always hold a special place in my heart. Especially Misha. Boy, I just
love an accent…
Last but not least, I’ve been writing a brand new book to be
released next spring. It continues the stories of the Others and features
one of the most—ahem!—original characters I’ve ever
created. When she originally appeared in Fantasy Fix, Ava
Markham was supposed to stay locked firmly in the pages of that book,
but to say Ava has a will of her own would be a ridiculous piece of
understatement. All I can tell you is that when you read her story, You’re
So Vein, coming in the Fall of 2009, I hope you’ll understand
her a little better and enjoy seeing how her earlier actions finally
catch up with her!
And now that I’ve caught you up, it’s back to
the salt mines with me. You see, I have to go talk to a demon about
a girl. Or was that a girl about a demon…?
